Terrell Newby

Nebraska was expected to have some growing pains in the run game last season under a new offensive system and without stud running back Ameer Abdullah, but the Cornhuskers were able to get by with a committee led by Newby. He led the team in carries with 147, which he converted into 765 yards (5.2 YPC) and six scores. Newby should once again be the lead back for the Cornhuskers thanks to his seniority and skillset that lends itself to being a featured part of the offense. The primary threat to Newby being an upper-echelon back in fantasy is red-zone opportunities. Newby is by no means small at 5-10, 200 pounds, but Nebraska consistently used bigger backs in the redzone last season as Imani Cross took 17 red-zone carries and rising sophomore Devine Ozigbo (5-11, 225) had nine such carries while Newby took 20 carries in the RZ. With that, Newby is likely only going to see about half of the redzone carries, which severely limits his touchdown upside especially considering he only had one non-RZ TD last season.
