Tre Roberson: Transferring To Illinois State
QBNo Current School
June 13, 2014
Roberson announced Friday that he will transfer to Illinois State, where he will have two years of eligibility remaining, the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
It was a quick decision for Roberson, who announced his intent to transfer on Wednesday. The dual-threat quarterback will be eligible to play immediately, as Illinois State is an FCS school, but he'll be in competition with Blake Winkler, who threw for 12 touchdowns as a freshman last season. Regardless, Roberson is the superior talent and likely holds the inside track to winning the starting job come fall.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2013
2012
Roberson was the undisputed starter for the Hoosiers last year before breaking his leg in just the second game of the season. He now looks to vie for the starting position, which will not be handed to him, as Cameron Coffman and Nate Sudfeld will compete for it as well. Roberson adds a dimension to the Indiana offense that the other two cannot, and that is simply the fact that he’s a rushing threat. He is not the definite starter at this point, but it appears that he will be the favorite heading into the start of the 2013 season. If he’s at full strength and holding down the starting role at Indiana, Roberson will be a useful spot starter in all formats.
Indiana has its fingers crossed with the hope that Roberson can build on last year's season, because he was generally quite promising as a freshman. He started the year as the team's third quarterback, but by October it was clear he should have been starting all along. Although only threw three touchdowns compared to six interceptions, it's quite forgivable given that he had brutal road matchups against Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio State and Michigan State in his second, third, fifth and sixth college starts. He really stood out as a runner, in any case, taking off for 426 yards (3.9 YPC) and two touchdowns.
