Arizona: Ka'Deem Carey Going Pro
January 13, 2014
Carey will forgo his senior season and enter the 2014 NFL Draft, Yahoo! Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Carey had an outstanding junior season for the Wildcats and secured his second consecutive All-American selection at running back. He had 1,885 yards rushing with 19 touchdowns for Arizona in 2013. He eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark in every game he played this season. Carey is widely regarded as one of the top running back prospects in the draft and could be graded as a first-round talent.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2013
2012
Carey was certainly promising as a freshman in 2011, but no one could have anticipated his ridiculous breakout 2012 season. Carey tied for fourth in the country with 23 rushing touchdowns while leading the country with a pace of 148.4 rushing yards per game. None of that even takes into account Carey's standout receiving production, a category where he has posted 506 yards and three touchdowns in his first 24 career games. Arizona doesn't have anyone to compete with Carey for carries this year and, despite a likely decline in his production, it's still difficult to rank him anywhere but first among running backs. Carey posted over 100 yards from scrimmage or scored in all 13 games last year.
Arizona wasn't a team that ran often last year, but that could all change in Rich Rodriguez's first season taking over the program. Rodriguez will implement a run-heavy spread offense and Carey will most likely see more touches than he saw last year. With Keola Antolin gone, the job as main ballcarrier is Carey's to lose. He should see an improvement in his carries and production in his sophomore season after totaling 628 yards and eight touchdowns from scrimmage in 2011.
