Arthur Brown, Brown's father, said Wednesday that he and his son participated in an appeal teleconference with the University of Tennessee in which they "tried to express why [the university] should reverse" head coach Derek Dooley's refusal to release Brown from his scholarship with the Volunteers, ESPN.com reports.

Brown's father told reporters, "We expressed how [Brown] has felt. We laid out a lot about our family's struggles with illnesses and stresses. I feel we made a good case for an overturn." The University of Tennessee told the Browns that it would take 15 days from yesterday's request for appeal for a final decision to be delivered. That suggests Brown will know one way or another if he can enroll at Kansas State as planned on August 23 two days prior, August 21. If the decision is not overturned, Brown cannot be on scholarship with the Wildcats for 2010, forcing his family to have to cover his tuition for his first year in Manhattan.
