2024 Tournament PreviewThe metrics love Alabama despite a 21-11 record, as it has the No. 5 strength of schedule in the country. However, the Crimson Tide fell short in their biggest non-conference tests (losses to Purdue, Arizona and Creighton were at least competitive) and were blown out in the SEC tournament quarterfinals. Alabama boasts the No. 2-ranked offense in the nation, per KenPom, thanks to excellent shooting. Three players have hit 60-plus treys on at least 38 percent shooting, as the team ranks 35th nationally in 3-point percentage. It also ranks 10th in 2-point percentage, due in part to 6-11 Grant Nelson (12.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg). While four players average in double figures, finding a consistent No. 2 behind leading-scorer Mark Sears (21.1 ppg) has been elusive, though Hofstra transfer Aaron Estrada made a good case down the stretch. Defense lags behind (112th, per KenPom), so the Tide will have to avoid a cold shooting night.
