Staying in draft
Horton-Tucker announced May 17 that he would keep his name in the 2019 NBA Draft and forgo his final three seasons of eligibility at Iowa State, Travis Hines of The Ames Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Heading into his freshman season at Iowa State, Horton-Tucker wasn't widely viewed as a potential one-and-done candidate, but the 18-year-old quickly moved up draft boards after turning heads with his advanced play. He wrapped up the season with averages of 11.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.4 triples and 1.3 steals in 27.2 minutes per game while showcasing the ability to defend both guards and forwards thanks to his 7-foot-1 wingspan and big frame (6-foot-4, 238 pounds). Horton-Tucker is one of three Iowa State players to declare early for the draft, with point guard Lindell Wigginton and center Cameron Lard also opting not to return to Ames in 2019-20.
