Big 25 points in opener victory
Ashworth ended with 25 points (3-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 17-17 FT), seven rebounds and seven assists in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 99-86 win over UT Rio Grande Valley.
ANALYSIS
Ashworth wasn't overly efficient on his shots with a field goal percentage of just 30, but he did make up for it by making all of his 17 free-throw attempts. The fifth-year guard should be relied on heavily for his scoring abilities with the Bluejays this season alongside dominant big-man Ryan Kalkbrenner who is also returning for a fith year. Ashworth will need to shoot better from the floor than he did against the Vaqueros; though, if Creighton hopes to beat tough Big East opponents that will follow as the season develops.
