Denied extra year
The NCAA informed Dante on Thursday that he has been denied an additional season of eligibility, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Dante had applied for a waiver after he was limited to just six games during the 2020-21 season due to a knee injury and 12 games in 2019-20, when the season was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than extending him a sixth year of eligibility due to those circumstances, the NCAA has deemed his availability within each of the previous five seasons enough to bring an end to his collegiate career. Oregon will appeal the decision, but Dante will most likely move on to the professional ranks.
