Leaving school for NBA
Whitehead announced Wednesday via his personal Twitter account that he will forgo his remaining eligibility at Duke to enter the 2023 NBA Draft.
ANALYSIS
A projected first-round pick during the upcoming draft, Whitehead's decision to leave school early doesn't come as a major surprise despite some hiccups during his freshman season caused in part by missing time due to a foot injury. He started in just seven of his 28 appearances in 2022-23, averaging 8.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.5 three-pointers and 1.0 assists in 20.5 minutes per game while shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 42.4 percent from beyond the arc. The 6-foot-7 wing's perimeter shooting skills should make him a sought-after talent by NBA teams.
