Just a few things that caught my eye:
- Out with the old and in with the new. Age really has caught up with Mighty Mite; it has just arrived for Tyler Johnson. That hattie was the first in Bolts' franchise history. And he did it every way he could -- shorthanded, on the PP and at even strength. Damn, he has a quick stick. And he's smart. Really smart.
- Ben Bishop had some great moments, but when he goes swimming, he looks a lot like a beached sturgeon. That's one massive fish.
- Henrik Lundqvist hadn't given up four goals or more since Game 2 of the first round. It won't happen again.
- How many penalties could be called if referees could call penalties? Well, they can and they did -- there were seven called in the first period alone. Game 1 had yielded just six and that was for a full 60 minutes. The Bolts went three-for-six with the man advantage; the Rangers were two-for-five.
- Poor Brad Kovachik. The linesman's ACL will never be the same. Ouch.
- Dan Boyle and Marty St. Louis were the Rangers' top scorers (two assists each). They're a combined 77 years old. Heads up, Alain Vigneault -- you can't win like that.
- Tyler Johnson now leads the NHL in scoring (11 goals, five assists). Nikita Kucherov is third (six goals, eight assists). Steven Stamkos and Alex Killorn are tied for seventh with 12 points. Rick Nash? He's behind Kevin Shattenkirk (eight points) and outside the top-25 postseason scorers. 'Nuf said.
- Hextall gets Hakstol. Philly beat writers, make sure your auto-correct is set properly 'cuz that's going to be messy.
- Todd McLellan -- is he the Oilers' first choice or did Mike Babcock turn away giggling when Peter Chiarelli came calling?
