Just a few things that caught my eye:
- Light the dynamite. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin combined for three shots Thursday. Talk radio tomorrow in Pittsburgh will be calling for a trade. Geez.
- Double-D went up a couple cup sizes with that win. Chesty performance in his first NHL playoff game. It'll be a sad day if the name Devin Dubnyk isn't included in the Hart and Vezina discussions.
- Number of playoff games experience for the Winnipeg Jets? 301. Number of games of playoff experience for Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Corey Perry and Francois Beauchemin all by themselves? 293. Wow.
- Matt Beleskey, Kyle Palmieri and Ryan Kesler. Three guys that Ducks fans love and the rest of the league hates.
- Marc-Andre Fleury is the only -- and I repeat, ONLY -- reason the Penguins only lost by one. Ben Bishop on the other hand? Ugh.
- Petr Mrazek made 44 saves. The Wings were shellshocked. He was MVP on Thursday night.
- Isaiah Mustafa (a.k.a,, the Old Spice guy) is a Jets fan. Shouldn't we all be, then?
- Damn, Corey Perry has sweet hands.
- Speaking of Sid the Kid -- those Penguins sure play a stupid game. Four minor penalties in just a hair over 10 minutes of play in the first? It's little wonder Sid only had a single shot. He never saw the ice, at least in the first.
- Do you think Ryan Getzlaf loves the California lifestyle? He arrived at the rink in a gullwing McLaren. Saaa-weet ride. Then again, Teemu Selanne was in the house, too, and he arrived in a yellow Ferrari. Purrrrr ...
- Derick Brassard's playoff breakout has begun. Is a Conn Smyth a possibility?
- Charles Barclay is rooting for Alexander Ovechkin. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I haven't quite figured that out.
