We get 11 preseason games tomorrow, and naturally, there are developments flowing out of camps.

• Bad news on the Ezekiel Elliott front: the league's leading rusher in 2018 isn't expected to end his holdout before the Cowboys break training camp 10 days from now, per Tim Cowlishaw of the Dallas Morning News. The good news is this standoff shouldn't extend into the regular season as Elliott will neither get paid nor accrue time towards free agency while he is absent, so the fourth-year vet has every incentive to show up for the regular season.

• Antonio Brown still isn't practicing, but at least we know what caused his ailment and that it shouldn't cost him regular-season time. His feet apparently were frostbitten after failing to use appropriate footwear during a cryotherapy session.

• More on the injury front as Marquise Goodwin left 49ers' practice Wednesday, slipping on the field and leaving with a visible limp. The injury is to his lower right leg, and a more specific prognosis is forthcoming.

• Tyreek Hill looked good in his return to practice from a quad injury, reports ESPN's Adam Teicher. The West Alabama product impressed onlookers by snatching passes away from defenders in jump-ball situations, which certainly would lend credence to the idea that the quad is okay.

• Leonard Fournette is also standing out in camp, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union says. Not only has the third-year back been making plays, but he says he's in better shape, more focused, and is working on being a better pass-catcher. Add a better quarterback to that situation, and Fournette could be looking at a big year if he can stay healthy.

• In Pittsburgh, Jaylen Samuels will be backing up James Conner entering the season, but the 23-year-old's role could expand in other ways, according to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic. The N.C. State product could line up in a number of spots during the season and of course played some tight end in college, so he could see more touches than your run-of-the-mill reserve back.

• The Bears' Anthony Miller, the Saints' Jared Cook, and the Redskins' Terry McLaurin each topped their teams' initial depth charts at their respective positions, important for each player's fantasy value. Of the three, McLaurin is probably the most exciting, having generated a considerable amount of buzz as a rookie in Washington.

• Among star players who are confirmed to be sitting out of Thursday's exhibition action are Le'Veon Bell, Marlon Mack, Ben Roethlisberger, and Russell Wilson. Matt Ryan, on the other hand, will see at least a few plays for the Falcons.
