Another day, another training camp round-up. Every team has at least had its rookies report to camp save for Dallas and San Francisco and news abounds. Let's get right to it.
- Melvin Gordon stayed true to his word and didn't show up to camp. He wants a new contract, and the two sides are reportedly far apart in negotiations. Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson will take first-team reps in the 26-year-old's absence and would be the main beneficiaries if he were to get traded or if this becomes Le'Veon Bell, pt. deux.
- Washington's Derrius Guice has been cleared for full participation in practice according to John Keim of ESPN. The 2018 second-round pick is expected to share carries evenly with Adrian Peterson to begin the season and has feature-back potential if he can stay healthy in his first year back from an ACL tear.
- The Patriots placed Julian Edelman on the non-football injury list with a thumb ailment that will keep him out three weeks. It shouldn't affect the veteran's regular-season status, and his absence means more first-team reps for N'Keal Harry, Maurice Harris, and Braxton Berrios.
- The Colts will limit Andrew Luck's reps while he fully recovers from a calf strain that already cost him OTAs and June minicamp, per Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star. Like Edelman, this shouldn't threaten the reigning Comeback Player of the Year's Week 1 status. With added weapons on offense, he'll look to improve off the 4,593-yards and 39 touchdowns he threw for in 2018.
- In Denver, DaeSean Hamilton had impressed in the early going but appeared to suffer a hamstring injury Wednesday, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. The second-year receiver is in line to absorb some extra targets while Emmanuel Sanders recovers from a torn Achilles but instead joins Sanders, River Cracraft (oblique) and Juwann Winfree (calf) on the sideline for now. Meanwhile, undrafted rookie Trinity Benson got a chance with the first team and has shined so far in camp.
- Marquise Brown passed the Ravens' conditioning test Wednesday but has yet to receive full clearance from the team as he continues to recover from January surgery on his left foot. The first receiver taken in this year's draft is expected back soon, perhaps next week, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. The rookie has little on the depth chart in front of him and is a potential deep threat assuming he gets healthy.
- The Titans locked up safety Kevin Byard on a five-year, $71 million deal. Known as one of the best coverage safeties in the game, he's now the highest paid at his position. He's a top-20 defensive back in IDP leagues with 12 interceptions and 177 tackles over the past two seasons.
- Free-agent Jay Ajayi (ACL) received full medical clearance from Dr. James Andrews and could be a fantasy consideration in the latter half of the season depending on where he signs.
