There's potentially big injury news tonight, as Spencer Ware was carted off the field with an injury to his right knee. Before it happened, he was seeing more snaps than Kareem Hunt, though both rotated in with the first-team offense. Until the severity of the injury is determined, Ware's ADP of 64 will likely drop in this weekend's drafts while Hunt's ADP should rise from 92. Should Ware miss any regular season action, Hunt could have a chance to seize the role as the Chiefs lead back. However, it's unwise to be hasty until we receive more information.
• There's also bad news on the Patriots' front as Julian Edelman left Friday's preseason game with a knee injury which caused him to be carted off the field. Obviously it's too soon to know the severity of the injury, but those drafting this weekend need to consider the possibility that the injury could be serious. His ADP was at 55 before this news, and unless encouraging news is reported, expect that number to drop until more clarity is gained.
• After Edelman caught passes on three of the Pats' first five offensive plays before leaving with his injury, Chris Hogan took over and torched the Lions by catching four passes for 70 yards and two TDs. If no update is given on the severity of Edelman's injury, this weekend's drafts could see aggressive fantasy owners overreacting to Hogan's big game. His ADP is 198, but with so many options in the passing game, it's hard to imagine that he'll have a consistent role in the offense, though he certainly could have a number of big games. For those who choose to gamble that Edelman is seriously hurt, drafting Hogan after 130 picks could reap a favorable return on the investment.
• In other Patriots' news, Mike Gillislee saw his first preseason action Friday and scored on a short TD run, and finished the game with 38 yards on eight carries. After his ADP got out of control in July, his August hamstring injury lowered it to 83, but there's sure to be an overreaction for those who wanted confirmation that he's healthy, so his draft position could shoot up a round or so. For those trying to say that he's the heir to the LeGarrette Blount role of last year, don't be fooled. Before Blount's huge 2016 season, he was far less effective in his previous 32 games with the team. Gillislee's likely to be part of a committee and will likely have very uneven, and often unpredictable performances.
• Ameer Abdullah played very well in Friday's game against the Pats, as he carried the ball 13 times for 60 yards while catching all three of the targets he saw for an additional 39 yards. It should be noted that Theo Riddick saw just one target. Before missing the majority of 2016 with a foot injury, he played a full 16-games in 2015 while averaging 4.2 yards per carry, and when the Lions drafted him, they expected him to take over the 'Reggie Bush' role. Don't be surprised if Riddick plays on obvious passing downs while Abdullah catches plenty of passes as well. I've believed throughout the preseason that he's been an amazing draft day value with plenty of upside, and he only costs a pick after roughly 55-65 picks are off the board.
• Rookie Kenny Golladay was quiet once again, catching only one pass for two yards while Golden Tate and Marvin Jones were the primary receivers, and both posted 62 yards while Jones found the end zone. For those who believe the third preseason game is the dress rehearsal, the coaching staff may be tipping their hand as to who'll be seeing the lion's share of the targets at receiver. However with Eric Ebron still missing time with a hamstring injury, it's still a mystery whether he or Golladay will be the preferred red zone option for Matthew Stafford. Tate seems to be the safest option, and he has a reasonable ADP of 52.
• In other preseason news, Josh Gordon went into rehab two months ago, and he's hoping to be reinstated in late September. I know, we've heard this all before, but he sure is a great lottery ticket to go after late in drafts in leagues with deeper benches. Regardless, let's not hold our breath right now.
• After missing time with an ankle injury, Marqise Lee is confident he'll be ready for Week 1 although he'll likely miss the preseason finale. However, the Jaguars' offense has looked so toxic that it might not be worth spending a draft pick on a Jacksonville receiver other than Allen Robinson. For those willing to take a shot on Lee, his ADP of 183 makes him basically free in drafts.
• Finally, the Titans are expected to be without both Eric Decker (ankle) and Corey Davis (hamstring) in Sunday's preseason game. Both players have missed out on getting valuable reps with Marcus Mariota in camp, and it wouldn't be a surprise if Delanie Walker and Rishard Matthews spent another season as the QB's top targets in the passing game.
