It's time for Week 7 Injury Analysis. While there weren't a lot of injuries, significant ones did occur that are likely reshaping all of your fantasy leagues. Once again, feel free to comment about the posts or to ask about other players you're interested in that were not listed below.
Maurice Jones-Drew: Jones-Drew is another of many who have suffered a foot injury this year which as I stated in last week's injury analysis, I'm not really sure why this is becoming the "injury of the year" but there have definitely been several of these foot injuries that are always difficult to predict completely the timetable for return to play but they surely represent injuries that take several weeks at a minimum to return from. MJD has a midfoot sprain which means there is ligamentous damage to his foot. I would give a timetable of 4-6 weeks for MJD. I wouldn't expect him anytime in the next few weeks as the stages will go from pain at rest and with walking, to no pain with walking, to light practice, to heavier practice, and then ultimately game situations in which after all that time the player is at a great risk for reaggravation and reinjury which then will surely end his season practically all together. Not great news for a guy who led the league last year in rushing yards.
What does all this mean to your fantasy football team? It looks like a long road ahead for MJD and his owners. I wouldn't be too optimistic regarding a return sooner than 4 weeks. If you can somehow trade him to someone who is hopeful that he'll return sooner, absolutely go for it.
Trent Richardson: I want to revisit Richardson because last week I did accurately predict that he'd be in the lineup and playing but the true colors of the injury showed themselves when he was unable to be effective at all and ultimately exited the game last Sunday. Given his reaction to attempting to play gives a lot of information regarding the severity of his injury as it appears that his injury is fairly significant and I'd expect him to be out 2-3 weeks.
What does all this mean to your fantasy football team? I wouldn't count on him this week, and I wouldn't count on him next week either. This sounds like it could be an injury that keeps him out a few weeks which makes room for Hardesty to take the lead for a few weeks.
Nate Burleson: This WR for the Lions broke his leg which means he's done for the year.
What does all this mean to your fantasy football team? You might not even own Burleson, but it does mean that Titus Young and others on the WR staff will get more opportunity.
