Ryan Mathews missed practice as result of minor injuries sustained in a car crash – Though the injuries were undisclosed, they have been described as "minor" and given Mathews' presence at camp, it's safe to assume they're no threat to his missing any significant practice time. The Chargers were likely just being cautious here. The other important note is that police have already stated that neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be an influence in the crash, so there's no cause to worry about a suspension. In all likelihood Mathews will be back in action before the week is out.
Kendall Wright agreed to his rookie deal with the Titans – Now that his four-year contract has been inked, expect Wright to be worked in quickly to the Titans' offensive plans. With Kenny Britt still working his way back from an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee and facing a possible suspension, Wright figures to help fill the void early in the season.
John Carlson suffered a sprained MCL and will miss several weeks – Carlson's first camp with the Vikings is off to a disappointing start, and it looks like he may not be ready for Week 1 due to the injury. When healthy, he poses a nice weapon in a passing game that intends to regularly feature two tight end sets with he and Kyle Rudolph. While the injury derails those plans temporarily, it does raise the value of Rudolph if Carlson does miss regular season action.
Michael Crabtree missed his third full day of practice – It's the same old story for Crabtree, as he's now missing time in training camp for the fourth year of his four-year career. Hopefully what is being called a calf strain will not keep him out the entire summer as a holdout and foot issues did in the previous three offseasons. No timeline has been given for his absence as of yet.
Sam Bradford is looking bigger and better early in the Rams' camp – A confident Bradford is apparently impressing his new head coach, Jeff Fisher, with not just his accuracy and his understanding of the offense, but an additional 10 lbs. of muscle too. And he's done enough so far in just a few days of camp to prompt the straight-shooting Fisher to proclaim, "His potential is extremely, extremely good." Not to be lost in the comments when Fisher elaborated on how Bradford can live up to that potential was the mention that he is "throwing to Brian Quick all day." That last nugget is something to consider for the sleeper potential of both Bradford and his 6-foot-3 rookie target.
Braylon Edwards signed with the Seahawks – Seattle is giving Edwards a chance to claim the large hole (literally, not figuratively) left by their previous reclamation project that turned sour—Mike Williams. And he's not even the first project to join the Seahawks at training camp, as they brought in 31-year-old Antonio Bryant less than a week ago. Should either make the final roster, the lucky man will have to beat out Golden Tate and/or Doug Baldwin to see significant action, unless of course Sidney Rice continues his usual routine of breaking or tearing something.
Jason Babin will miss 2-3 weeks with a partially torn calf muscle – Fortunately for the Eagles there are more than five weeks before the season opener. Hopefully Babin does not experience any lingering issues as he needs his speed to maintain his status as an elite defensive line IDP.
Ben Ijalana suffered his second ACL injury in less than a year and will miss 2012 – The promising young guard will not be protecting top pick Andrew Luck during his rookie season and his career may be in serious jeopardy after his second ACL injury. If his replacement is a significant drop off in talent this could potentially cause problems for Luck and the passing game as well as whoever is taking handoffs for the Colts.
