Jeremy Maclin - According to his brother Andre, Maclin is doing "fine" and will have his situation cleared up Tuesday. Though Andre Maclin noted Monday that, "They kind of have us on a gag order until tomorrow," of his brother Jeremy, he added, "he's fine, he's fine. That much I can say." In any case, assuming his brother's proclamation is accurate, we should have a better idea of (Jeremy) Maclin's prognosis Tuesday. So far the Eagles aren't commenting on the report.
Chris Johnson - Johnson wants to be paid not only as the top running back, but a "top playmaker," whatever that entails. The Titans will not make an offer until Johnson comes to camp, honoring his original deal, and Johnson will not come to camp until a deal gets done. Johnson wants at least $30 million in guaranteed money.
Maurice Jones-Drew - Jones-Drew himself sounds confident about his knee, but he might sit out the whole preseason. "We have a plan," coach Jack Del Rio said Monday. "He's fully compliant and understands that we've got to have a plan. We've got to execute that plan, and part of that is getting him to the season as healthy and prepared as possible. He does need to have some contact, but we'd like that contact to be controlled as long as we can. That's why he won't be playing this week." We'll have to see if MJD sees any action in either the team's third or fourth preseason game, but either way, he claims to be pain-free, something he wasn't most of last season.
David Garrard - Garrard (back) is expected to play against Atlanta in Jacksonville's second preseason game Friday. Garrard admits he's not quite 100 percent, but adds he has played at 90 percent before. Assuming Garrard holds up, he's on track to open the season as the Jags' starting QB, but if his back issues persist into the season, it could open the door for Blaine Gabbert sooner than expected.
Montario Hardesty - Hardesty (knee) practiced for the first time this training camp Monday, and reportedly took it well. While the fact that Hardesty was upbeat after practice is certainly a positive, the real nugget here is that he in fact practiced fully for the first time this summer. His knee is something that needs to be monitored closely even after this.
Cam Newton - Newton received work with the first-team offense Monday. Newton outplayed Jimmy Clausen during the team's first preseason game against the Giants on Saturday, which certainly moved him closer to becoming the starter in Carolina. However, the first step is more reps with the first-team in practice, which he started doing today.
Jermichael Finley - Despite missing his team's preseason opener due to glute and knee concerns, Finley practiced Monday. Barring a setback, it looks like there's a decent chance we'll see Finley out there against the Cardinals on Friday, when the Packers play their second preseason game.
Michael Crabtree - Crabtree was seen walking without a boot for his injured foot Monday. While that's hardly an "all clear," assuming the boot stays off, it's a sign that Crabtree's foot issue is trending in the right direction.
Ed Dickson - Dickson took most of the first-team reps Monday. Dickson had been dealing with a hamstring issue, and while he was, Dennis Pitta had a chance to work with the first team. In any case, until one of the two clearly becomes the Ravens' go-to tight end in the post-Todd Heap era, take a wait and see approach.
LaRon Landry - Landry (Achilles) says he will be off the PUP list in time for Washington's Aug. 25 preseason matchup against Baltimore. Assuming no setbacks, it sounds like Landry will be a go come Week 1. When healthy, he's a top-notch IDP option.
