I thought my 2010 AL-only LABR team had that distinction with Kendrys Morales, Grady Sizemore and Dustin Pedroia all winding up out for the year (roughly 1/3 of my budget), in addition to Erik Bedard never playing and various injuries to minor players. But 2011 NL Tout I believe has finally surpassed it. Here's my original roster:
Pos | Player | Price | Health |
C | Buster Posey | $22 | Out for the year |
C | Geovany Soto | $19 | 15-day DL stint |
1B | Brandon Belt | $8 | 15-day DL stint |
2B | Rickie Weeks | $24 | 15-day DL stint (3-6 weeks) |
3B | Scott Rolen | $13 | 2 15-day DL stints |
SS | Paul Janish | $2 | healthy, but useless |
CI | Brett Wallace | $9 | healthy |
MI | Danny Espinosa | $17 | healthy |
OF | Jason Bay | $19 | 15-day DL stint |
OF | Alfonso Soriano | $17 | 15-day DL stint |
OF | Seth Smith | $15 | healthy |
OF | Nyjer Morgan | $9 | 2 15-day DL stints |
OF | Kosuke Fukudome | $8 | healthy |
U | Aaron Rowand | $2 | healthy |
P | Cole Hamels | $22 | healthy |
P | Francisco Rodriguez | $17 | healthy |
P | J.J. Putz | $13 | 15-day DL stint |
P | Jonny Venters | $8 | healthy |
P | Travis Wood | $7 | healthy |
P | Homer Bailey | $4 | 2 15-day DL stints |
P | Brandon Beachy | $3 | 15-day DL stint |
P | Jon Garland | $1 | Out for the year |
P | Joe Saunders | $1 | healthy but cut |
R | Matt Gamel | $0 | healthy, but useless |
R | Rubby De la Rosa | $0 | 15-day DL stint |
R | Yuniesky Maya | $0 | healthy, but useless |
R | Tyler Greene | $0 | healthy, but useless |
Of course, some of these guys were injury prone, like Rolen, Soriano and Putz, but of the $260 I spent on this team, $152 worth was on players who hit the DL at least once. Somehow, I'm in 6th place, though I have zero chance to win and am just playing out the string and actually rooting for more injuries for the story value.
