DeAngelo Williams re-signs for 5 years and $43 million with Carolina - this doesn't help either Williams or his teammate Jonathan Stewart as the two will presumably share the workload once again and for what should be a subpar offense. Mike Goodson becomes an afterthought, but Knowshon Moreno is for now still the lead back in Denver and Daniel Thomas is still the likely lead back in Miami.
Sidney Rice signs a five-year deal with the Seahawks - like the Williams signing, on its face this doesn't seem to boost his fantasy prospects. Charlie Whitehurst and/or Tarvaris Jackson should benefit, but Rice could have a hard time duplicating his numbers from 2009.
Donovan McNabb was traded to the Vikings in exchange for two 6th-round picks - Sidney Rice is gone, and we get the feeling McNabb will be handing off more than he's used to. Still, he's got a starting job, and has talented playmakers on the roster in Percy Harvin and Adrian Peterson.
Frank Gore is reportedly planning to hold out when the 49ers report to camp- Gore's in the last year of his deal, and given his age, mileage and injury history, this might be his last chance to cash in. Nonetheless, it's hard to see the Niners coughing up big bucks to a 29-year old back coming off a serious injury. Holdouts rarely last into the season, and the time off shouldn't affect Gore much, but it's worth keeping an eye on.
DeSean Jackson is unlikely to report to training camp Thursday - Like Gore, Jackson is reportedly going to hold out. Unlike Gore, Jackson is in his prime and a big part of what makes the Super Bowl contending Eagles so dangerous. I'd expect the Eagles to pony up in this case before too long.
Lance Moore has agreed to a five-year deal to remain with the Saints - He'll be in the mix with Marques Colston, Robert Meachem and Jimmy Graham for Drew Brees' targets. It's hard to see a lot of upside with any one Saints' receiver in that system, but in deeper leagues, Moore should be useful.
Matt Hasselbeck will sign a multi-year contract with the Titans - The Titans might not throw a ton with an offense built around Chris Johnson, but Kenny Britt is a legitimate No. 1 target should he remain out of jail and on the field. It's likely a moderate upgrade from rookie Jake Locker.
The Jets signed Santonio Holmes to a five-year deal - Holmes becomes the team's No. 1 WR after sharing that role with Braylon Edwards in 2010. A big variable is how Mark Sanchez develops and also how much the Jets will throw given their strong running game and stout defense, but Holmes is a one of the top smaller receivers in the NFL. Edwards likely will find employment elsewhere as a result.
