Just a few things that caught my eye:
- No bear bells on him. Simon Gagne is the ultimate Bruin killer - the game winner Saturday is his third against Boston. The first two? Game 4 last season to start the Philly rally against the B's and then Game 7 to cap one of the greatest comebacks in history. Wow.
- The parallels between Friday and Saturday were frightening. Two first-period 3-0 leads; two collapses. But one team bent while the other broke. Into several pieces.
- And the top goal scorer in the playoffs is... (drum roll, please) Sean Bergenheim. He brings new meaning to Flying Finn.
- Andrew Alberts, Keith Ballard and Chris Tanev smack of desperation. The Orcas had better hope Kevin Bieksa screws his head back on for Game 5. Yikes.
- Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton were flat-out dominating Friday night. There's no other way to describe it.
- Next year's draft day sleeper? Teddy Purcell. He has 15 points in as many games this postseason and his soft hands and quick wrister could someday deliver that same point-per-game over the whole season. He'll need to work on his consistency but he could be an elite set-up man.
- The pendulum has swung. Dwayne Roloson has been yanked twice in the last three games and has looked every bit the ordinary grandpa he was at times after his arrival in Tampa. He needs to bounce back and fast.
- Mike Smith has been nothing short of extraordinary in relief. Maybe he will get a contract for next season after all.
- Dan Boyle is no longer the overworked and overtired mule he was in the regular season but he's not the game changer he once was. He may have 10 points in his last eight games with points in seven of eight. But the Sharkies are only 3-5 in those eight games.
