Another awful showing in last night's action and my account is in the negative for the first time.
Florida Marlins - 115
Postponed – Rain
This turned out to be the best play I made yesterday.
Kansas City Royals + 110
Indians 7, Royals 3
Travis Hafner continued to play like he has turned the calendar back a few years, going 2-4 with 1 run, 3 RBI and 2 doubles. He is now hitting .345 on the season… not bad for a career .281 hitter who has not hit .300 since 2006. Carlos Carrasco evened his record to 2-2 with 5.1 innings of 5 hit ball, allowing 2 ER with 2 BB and 5 K. In their last five meetings (all won by Cleveland), the Indians have now outscored the Royals 50-12.
Texas Rangers + 125
White Sox 4, Rangers 3
How long before Cody Eppley returns to the minors? Eppley took the loss in relief (if you can call it that), allowing 1 ER on 1 hit and 2 BB with 1 K in 0.1 inning. In 9 games this season, Eppley has thrown 9 innings, allowing 8 ER on 10 hits and 5 BB, while striking out 6. John Danks continued to look pedestrian in the ND, going 6 innings and giving up 2 ER on only 4 hits, but walked 6 while striking out 2.
SEASON RECORD: 6-6 (50|PERCENT|), - 120
How much worse can it get? With 15 games on the schedule I hopefully won't find out with the following:
Baltimore Orioles + 105
Baltimore (19-21, 10-11 H); Zachary Britton (6-2, 2.42, 1.02)
New York (21-19, 8-8 A); Bartolo Colon (2-2, 3.74, 1.25)
Recent Trends: The Yankees are 3-7 in their last 10 games, hitting .252 with an ERA of 4.50. The Orioles are 5-5 during that span, hitting .263 with an ERA of 3.68. Britton was originally scheduled to start Tuesday, but will now make his first career appearance against the Yankees. Colon is 2-2 with a 5.57 ERA in his last four starts versus the Orioles.
Cleveland Indians + 115
Cleveland (26-13, 11-9 A); Justin Masterson (5-1, 2.73, 1.27)
Chicago (18-25, 6-12 H); Jake Peavy (0-0, 6.00, 1.17)
Recent Trends: The Indians are 13-5 in their last 18 games, but only 2-8 in their last 10 head-to-head meetings with the White Sox. The White Sox are 2-10 in their last 12 home games, but 7-3 in the last 10 games overall. Masterson defeated the White Sox 7-1 earlier this season while the White Sox have lost the last 4 times Peavy faced the Indians.
San Diego Padres + 115
San Diego (18-24, 7-14 H); Dustin Moseley (1-5, 3.40, 1.28)
Milwaukee (20-22, 7-16 A); Yovani Gallardo (4-2, 4.88, 1.50)
Recent Trends: The Brewers are 2-9 in their last 11 road games, and 2-6 in their last 8 meetings in San Diego. The Padres are 5-5 in their last 10 games, hitting .291, but with an ERA of 5.55. Moseley has been the victim of poor run support, with the Padres not scoring a single run in 4 of his 5 losses.
