I wrote an article to this effect in 1999 for the site, and it was a by-position, by-season best-ever fantasy lineup, with the catch that you could only use one season per player, i.e., you couldn't use Babe Ruth's 1920 and 1921 seasons. Second, it was only the raw stats, not adjusted for era. Third - it was only players from 1900 on. Here's the team:
