-Biggest fantasy surprise of the day: Lee Evans, Kenny Britt or Darren McFadden?  Run DMC, no?

-Who has the best passer rating since Week 17 of last season?  Ryan Fitzpatrick.  While the Ravens defense is nothing special, the Bills seem to be a feast or famine team with him under the center.  Don't forget the Bills hung a 30-spot on at New England which is the most points they've given up all season.

-I called for a downgrade of Tom Brady after last week and his 19-for-32 peformance for a whopping 159 yards and one TD doesn't exactly instill much confidence going forward.  I know there's been a TD in four straight games but BenJarvus Green-Ellis has 21 carries for 44 yards over his last two games.  I'm not bullish on him either going forward.  Both Pats have games against Minnesota, at Cleveland and at Pittsburgh staring them in the face.

-We've blown up the Sunday NFL ticket on DirecTV and specifically the Red Zone channel (whoever thought of this should never have to buy another alcoholic beverage when walking into a restaurant or bar).  The question is do you know what "Whole TV" is?  I might be wrong on the name but let me explain what it is.  If you have more than one TiVo box in your house and hook this up (they say there's an initial $99 fee and then $3 a month), you want this.  I never got charged the 99 bones and now anything I TiVo in any room is available in any room (regardless of it's a DVR) in my house.  So if I'm taping something in the basement or bedroom I can watch it in the family room, kitchen or spare bedroom.  Three bucks a month?  Light years ahead of cable.

-Larry Fitzgerald should be viewed outside the top-15 receivers going forward.  Max Hall could be the future but if the Cardinals want to win now I think Derek Anderson is their best QB.  Remember he hasn't been getting snaps with the first team which may account for the off timing.  Or maybe Anderson isn't that good.  Did it seem like all of Fitzgerald's patterns were a rub or pick off another receiver/defender? 

-Quicking look at hockey, I talked about " Erik "Killer" Karlsson as a good sleeper citing his end-of-the-year stats.  Our hockey writers here are awesome and I'm slighting them with that description.  Want to look at an offensive sleeper?  Watch Tyler Ennis of the Sabres who looks like Martin St. Louis-lite.

-Don't be fooled by Carson Palmer's 412-yard, three TD game.  Both Shipley and TO's touchdown catches were all about the YAC.  I don't trust his arm strength or accuracy going forward.  It wouldn't surprise me to see some type of T. Ocho rant or outburst this week.

-Kudos to the Browns who walked into their game realizing they might need some extra help to beat the defending champions.  The trick play on the punt and fake punt were perfectly executed.

-When Joe Girardi used David Robertson, he should have been calling for Mariano Rivera.

-Ruxin, Andre, any "Sunny" character, Ray Hueston or Stevie Janowski - who's the best supporting actor in a comedy series?  Or am I missing a write-in?  If you're a fan of Eastbound, I'm guessing you'd like "The Foot Fist Way".

-I know there are high contract demands and he will eventually sign to accumulate another year towards free agency but shouldn't the Bears have made a strong play for Logan Mankins?  I advised last week grabbing any defense playing the Bears as a bye-week filler but I'm now thinking (sarcastically) you should look every week at who's playing them.  You can't pinpoint just one player in the Bears offensive line who's getting killed and this isn't a problem that's going away any time soon.

-After "The Warning", no terrible head shots this week.  It is getting annoying though when the commentators go back and examine every close play that's a borderline penalty/fine/suspension. 

-I do not trust and can't recommend Matt Cassel in any standard league even if your starter is on a bye.  The touchdowns to the resurgent Dwayne Bowe have been all due to great plays by him and not Cassel.  Think the long catch and run against the Texans.  Cassel underthrew Bowe on the first TD and made him make a spectacular grab by keeping both feet in bounds on the second.  Add in the commitment to the running game by Todd Haley and Cassel's fantasy value going forward is very limited.

-Speaking of the Chiefs, if you had them in first place and the Raiders in second place in their division at this point, let me know the Powerball numbers.  I wonder what the odds were on the Raiders being the highest scoring team this week.

-If Dallas loses tonight, Phillips is gone tomorrow, no?

-After fun at the Great Pumpkin Farm on Saturday, I caught some of the LSU/Auburn game.  I couldn't have been more impressed with Nick Fairley.  For those that don't know, he's a defensive tackle for Auburn who had three sacks despite being double teamed most of the game.  On one play he bull-rushed two linemen en route to one of the sacks.  A few times he was pulled down to avoid more damage in the backfield.  At 6'5", 300 lbs. and only a junior, I'm guessing we'll see him on Sundays.

-The Brett Favre TD pass to Visanthe Shiancoe that was called back looked legit to me, not sure how anyone else thought about that.  Glad to see Chris Collinsworth had the fortitude to give his honest (as always) opinion on the play.  Why didn't McCarthy challenge the Jennings' catch in the fourth quarter that preceded an unsuccessful fourth down run by Kuhn?  Outside of Lovie Smith (horrible), worst call of the day (not to mention the Vikings knew what GR was running on fourth down after the previous fourth down conversion).  Brett Favre is up to 10 interceptions after throwing seven total last season.  Wasn't it weird how he was limping after the last play since he had showed no sign of injury the entire game?  Kind of like him holding his elbow a few weeks back, no?  Is there a better comparison for Adrian Peterson than Walter Payton?

-I wrote about Saturday's UFC PPV last week and have to say I was mildly disappointed.  Outside of the main event, there weren't any great KOs or submissions.  I'm beginning to like Diego Sanchez more and more as he becomes one of the more polarizing figures in the UFC.  I'm also a tad worried about the future of Brock Lesnar given his recent health scare and demeanor after the fight.  I'm guessing he's set for life financially and since the health scare (and subsequent new diet), he's gotten destroyed in the first round of his last two fights.  The cut under his left eye looked like it was going to need at least eight stitches, if not more.  On a recreational note, Vegas must have done ok on the fight.  After Lesnar started as a -160 favorite, enough money was dumped on him that come fight time he was -180.

-The injury to Alex Smith did not look good.  Neither did David Carr.  If Smith is out for an extended period of time, significantly downgrade Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis.
