Ronnie Brewer (hamstring) returns to practice – Sunday marked Brewer's first full practice since the start of training camp. Along with free-agent acquisitions Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver, Brewer was part of the Bulls offseason plan to become the Eastern Conference's version of the Jazz. Now that he's finally back at practice, Brewer should take his rightful spot at shooting guard in the Bulls' starting five in short order. His overall numbers are usually pretty ho-hum, but Brewer's ability to rack up steals gives him modest value in deep leagues.
Kelenna Azubuike (knee) is still a couple weeks away from return – Azubuike has been out all of training camp while recovering from knee surgery. He's hoping to be ready for the start of the regular season. While that timetable remains realistic, Azubuike probably won't be at full strength on Opening Night, so don't be surprised by a slow start. There's a chance Azubuike has a significant role in Knicks' rotation this season, possibly even as a starter. Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni's fast-paced offense always does wonders for player's fantasy values, so keep Azubuike in mind if you need to make any early-season additions from the waiver wire.
Samuel Dalembert (thigh) sits out third straight preseason game – Dalembert still hasn't appeared in an exhibition game with his new squad. With each game Dalembert sits, rookie DeMarcus Cousins receives extra playing time to prove to the Kings' coaching staff he should get the starting nod at center. The Kings are a team in transition and will turn an eye to the future at some point this season, so Dalembert and his expiring contract could be pushed to the backburner, maybe even sooner than expected.
Notable Performances
Jarrett Jack started at point guard for the Raptors on Sunday, finishing with 18 points (6-of-12 FG, 1-of-1 3Pt, 5-of-5 FT) and six boards in a loss to Boston. Jose Calderon got the nod at point guard in the Raptors' first preseason game. Like last season, these two could be in for another timeshare situation, diluting the value of both players. Avoid if possible.
Rashard Lewis caught fire Sunday, hitting all five of his attempts from long range to finish with 23 points in 25 minutes. Before last year's down season, Lewis came with a high price tag for a three-point specialist. This year's ADP of 72 is more in line with the cost of a one-category stud, but if Lewis can bounce back to his career averages, he'll be a steal at that price.
J.J. Hickson scores 18 points and grabs 11 rebounds while starting at center in Sunday's win over Houston. This guy is going to be a double-double machine for the Cavs this season.
