Training Camp Notes

Vincent Jackson is in trade talks with Seattle. Normally this would not be news except all of the parties involved are confirming it. It looks like there is very little chance we see him in a Charger's uniform again. Bump up Malcolm Floyd, Antonio Gates and Legedu Naanee on your cheat sheets. As for Jackson, he's missing too much of the season for me to consider him unless he falls really, really far.

Shawn Nelson received a four-game ban for violating the NFL's substance and abuse policy. He shouldn't have been on your fantasy radar anyway and it looks like Jonathan Stupar will now be the starter at tight end.

Sidney Rice felt some pain in his hip and his status for Week one is "up in the air". This plus the fact that offseason surgery was recommended makes me think he won't be on any of my fantasy teams. This coupled with Percy Harvin's issues (he returned to practice Friday but is out for Sunday's game) gives B-twice (Bernard Berrian) a modest bump. He actually only had five less red zone targets (17) than Rice (22) last season.  Javon Walker worked out for Minnesota on Friday, which sounds like an insurance policy.

Brett Favre will play a series or two on Sunday. Whipee.

Jeremy Maclin hurt his left shoulder against the Bengals on Friday night. No update yet about the severity of the injury.

Arian Foster appears to have locked down the starting gig in Houston with Steve Slaton listed as the "change-of-pace" back. That sounds to me like Foster will get the goal line carries. I recently took Foster with the 71st overall pick in an industry draft (blog to follow this weekend) which speaks to my endorsement of him (although I was a big Ben Tate supporter initially).
