Team Context

Obviously, team context is a big factor in assessing prospective player production - all things being equal, you want to have the starting running back in San Diego rather than Buffalo, for example, and you'd rather have Peyton Manning's No. 2 receiver than Matt Moore's. For an overall sense of how to rank teams' offensive production, you can check out Andy Behrens' Juggernaut Index at Yahoo! Sports.

But I did something a little different - I grouped teams into four categories: (1) Blue Chips; (2) Teams in Transition; (3) Surprisingly Ugly; and (4) Ugly.

While you can get value anywhere, I think you might get the best bargains by picking the right players in categories (2) and (4). While the ones in (3) should probably be lumped in with (4), but are not, and ones in (1) are typically going to command a premium.

(1) Blue Chips (in no particular order)

Packers
Patriots
Texans
Colts
Saints
Cowboys
Bears (I see them here with Mike Martz and Jay Cutler even though they're obviously also in transition)
Chargers
Eagles
Vikings

(2) Teams In Transition

Dolphins - Chad Henne is developing - is Brandon Marshall a "king-making" receiver?
Giants - are they run-first or pass-first; how's the defense going to be?
Jets - skill personnel is top notch, but Mark Sanchez and Braylon Edwards are the key
Falcons - Matt Ryan regressed last year - does he bounce back?

Redskins - Donovan McNabb/Mike Shanahan are major offensive upgrades
Panthers - Was Matt Moore's stellar finish for real?
49ers - Much better offensive line, full season of Michael Crabtree, but can Alex Smith take the next step?
Lions - Calvin Johnson and Randy Moss are the only WRs with 20-TD potential. Matt Stafford's growth is obviously key.
Raiders - Jason Campbell is just average, but that helps. Michael Bush could be a monster
Chiefs - Charlie Weis should get more out of the passing game. Full season of Jamaal Charles as the starter and Dwayne Bowe helps, too
Cardinals - Matt Leinart was a competent starter at one point; Beanie Wells has top-five upside
Ravens - Anquan Boldin adds a new dimension; Ray Rice has several of his own
Bengals - Ochocinco says they're running it, but T.O., Antonio Bryant and Jermaine Gresham give Carson Palmer far more targets
Steelers - Rashard Mendenhall should be the focal point early on; Can Mike Wallace be an every-down threat?
Titans - Chris Johnson is a monster, but Vince Young and Kenny Britt are interesting, too.

(3) Surprisingly Ugly

Seahawks - Unless Matt Hasselbeck travels back in time, this looks like an offensive doormat
Broncos - Loss of Elvis Dumervil could force them to throw more, but to whom?
Jaguars - It's MJD, MSW and SOL

Ugly

Rams
Bills
Browns
Bucs
