Plaxico Burress took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon. The deal will net him two years in prison, possibly only 20 months with good behavior. Let me see, kill someone while driving under the influence=less than 30 days in jail, shoot yourself with an unlicensed weapon=two years. The legal system may need some work. Plaxico will regret not coming to an agreement earlier and possibly saving himself another football season. The only good news Burress received was that he will not be suspended by the NFL upon his departure from jail and will be eligible to play immediately. More than likely he won't have as problem finding a team at that time as he won't have quite the stigma attached to him of say, dogfighting. However, he won't be fantasy relevant until at least 2011 and will be 34 years old that season.
Ben Roethlisberger hurt his right foot/ankle in practice. Apparently Ben had the back of his right foot stepped on by an offensive tackle and took the rest of the day off. The injury is not thought to be serious and he should be fine to start the season for the SB champions.
Brian Westbrook (ankle) stated he is happy with his rehab progress and remains on track to play in the Eagles' season opener on September 13th. Westbrook is a gamble given his injury history, but could provide an excellent return for owners, especially in PPR leagues. That being said, owners would be wise to handcuff themselves with LeSean McCoy who should see 10+ touches a game even if Westbrook is 100|PERCENT|.
Chaz Schilens (foot) will be out until Week 2 or 3, according to head coach Tom Cable. Schilens had been impressive early on in camp until breaking his foot. He's still a nice sleeper this year even if he misses one or two weeks.
