Just a few things that caught my eye:
- I was ready to award the Cup to the Wings after that second period. Sort of like a cat with a mouse. Or a dominatrix with the diapered guy she keeps in the barn. Ooops, sorry -- talking about my neighbour again. Got all mixed up there.
- And to think the metric system here in Canada gets criticized -- what about Pittsburgh math? I know how I count to five; I can fit them all on one hand AND the ice at the same time.
- Two guys I really enjoyed watching tonight? Niklas Kronwall -- when he steps up, he takes guys straight through the windshield. And Chris Kunitz. Eleven hits? Even the great Detroit D started to look over their shoulders.
- Remarkable stat I heard on the radio broadcast? The Wings hadn't allowed more than three goals in the playoffs since 1995 against the Devils. I gotta check that. I knew they were good but that's un-fracking-believable.
- Mikael Samuelsson reminded me of the kid in TimBits hockey who was so confused he always went against the flow of the play. I sure hope he'll be OK; he was in major trouble. And to think he almost didn't dress tonight because he woke up sick this morning. Bet he's wishing it's Groundhog Day. A do-over would be nice.
- Is Henrik Zetterberg the best player in the NHL? He picks up two points, smothers Sidney Crosby and never makes a mistake in his own zone. At least none that aren't hidden by his big butt (see Game One).
- Detroit's fourth line of Darren Helm, Justin Abdelkader and Ville Leino would be the first line in Toronto. It's a long, long way up, Burkey.
- Over-under on the cost of Mario Lemieux's suit. I'm starting the discussion at $2,500. Now tell me -- what exactly was he doing out there, dropping the puck? I get it... and I don't.
- Evgeni Malkin was powered by borscht again. Nyet?
