Just a few things that caught my eye
- I think Kyle Wellwood had some of that new ginseng-infused, ancient grain, organic, west-coast granola for breakfast. He hasn't been that motivated since the last 99-cent buffet he passed.
- Paging the Blackhawks; paging the Blackhawks. What might have been had they arrived before the third period?
- Did Pavol Demitra even play in the first round? His name was mentioned more times Thursday night than in the entire St. Louis series. For good reasons in the first two periods and not so good reasons on that third Hawks' goal.
- Jonathan Toews had a bulls-eye on his back... maybe those rumors of a right shoulder injury are true. The Orcas must think they are.
- Patrick Kane's wrist shot is staggeringly accurate. I think I knew that before but it became abundantly clear in the third.
- Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook rank right up there as one of the top D pairings in the league right now. Hitting, positioning, skating, scoring -- there's not much else you can ask for.
- Sami Salo has played in four playoff games this season; he has points in all four including two game-winning goals. Mr. Clutch was a 9th round (236th overall) draft pick from 1996. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause.
