1. Chris Perez. The Cardinals closer is going in the 27th round. He's a K-machine (9k/9 in '08, Biill James projects it at 10k/9 in '09) and was the No. 1 closer prospect in baseball last year. ,There is some competition for the closer gig in Chris Carpenter and Ryan Franklin. But, he is the team's future and they will give him the chances to save games, assuming he can keep his high walk rate down (4.8 BB/9). This should be a clear case of let talent play.

2. Matt Lindstrom is a monster closer "sleeper" who isn't being taken until the 15th round when Mike Gonzalez and Heath Bell are leaving the board. Both of those guys are great and hopefully members of my team(s), but there's one thing that stands out with Lindstrom. The young closer keeps the ball in the ball park. That's the secret to closing, and Gonzalez, for all the success he has (and many better peripherals than Lindstrom) gives up just too many long balls.

3. Matt Capps gets no love. He's on the Pirates. I mention that becasue nobody pays attention to atheletes in Pittsburg, unless you're talking about that football thing they have going on out there. There's just one thing you need to see to understand Capps' strength: In 2008 he had a 0.97 WHIP. Don't shy away because the Pirates will be a bad team, even bad teams create 30- 40 save opps a year.
