According to the Associated Press Harrison's reluctance to take a pay cut could mark the end of his career in Indy. Renegotiation talks between the Colts and Harrison were unsuccessful during the weekend, and he is close to asking the team for his release, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton.

I posted an earlier NFL.com report to this effect, but our Colts beat writer added that Harrison:

seems like a guy who isn't going to out and get the biggest contract and would rather stay put.

I was going to add a comment below (but never got around to it) saying - I know Harrison has the reputation for being more of a team guy than say Anquan Boldin. But Harrison was the highly paid No. 1 receiver with the best passing game in the league that contended every year- there wasn't whole lot for him to complain about.

Now Harrison might still agree to take less money and return, so Peter might be right. But if he's not, it just goes to show that the media spin on who's for the team and who's for No. 1 is almost always skewed.

And not that there's anything wrong with Harrison deciding against giving a hometown discount. He's not under any such obligation any more than the team is to keep him at his current rate. But if he walks, it should further dispel the myth of the "good guy" - as least the ones the media wants to cast in that role.

Incidentally, if he does walk, where do you rank Anthony Gonzalez? I'd put him in the top-20.
