For the second consecutive week, bidding in my NFBC leagues was fervent, as some viable options presented themselves after a tepid first week of bidding. Unlike last week, I "won" some of my options, though I still came up short on my top priorities once again. Bid results after the jump:

I had the second place bids on Gurriel, Glover (who converted a second save for the weekend after the FAAB deadline passed), Simmons and Blach. I lost Miguel Cabrera and Madison Bumgarner on the same day, and I'm already parking David Price, so I'm in a critical spot. Perhaps I should have been more aggressive on Ty Blach ahead of Norris, but my strategy is to try to get a jump on saves while I'm missing out on my ace, as sometimes trying to make up with quantity at starting pitcher backfires.
Cody Bellinger was an interesting add - he was selected in the draft and then released, which made him available in my league. Otherwise we would have had to wait until he was activated by the Dodgers. Dan Vogelbach is also an interesting addition, but I'm a little skeptical that he'll get full-time playing time, so I prioritized Gurriell and Bell, needing a short-term replacement for Miggy.

McCann is a hedge against Travis d'Arnaud's wrist injury. I had the second place bid on Austin Hedges (and Conforto, and Gallo, and Kelley ... variation on a theme, but not a variation on a Thames).

It's a good thing there's an unlimited DL - I have five guys on my DL, and that's not counting Alex Reyes, who went down with a torn UCL the day after the draft.
Richard has two starts this week, albeit on the road. One is super-dangerous against Arizona, though he beat them last week, the other against the Giants. As for Barnhart, I'm tiring of the Sandy Leon Experience (the least popular ride at Disney, I hear), and got outbid on Austin Romine.

Maybe Miguel Cabrera's groin injury only keeps him out the minimum 10 days, maybe it's a lot more. Maybe John Hicks learned something in the Tigers' organization after getting the hell away from the Mariners. Or maybe he's going to go 1-for-21 and get DFA'd this week. It's an AL-only league, where playing time is at such a premium. I'll take the chance.
