Josh Allen, Bills (-1000)

He has played with more consistency this season, taking better care of the ball, and he and the 11-3 Bills have already clinched the AFC East. Allen completed 23 of 34 passes (67.6%) for 362 yards and two passing touchdowns in a 48-42 win over the Detroit Lions that might be a Super Bowl preview. As a runner, he ranks 22nd in the NFL with 743 yards and three more touchdowns. He will be near the top of the passing stats at year's end and should be among the rushing leaders, overall and for QBs. His odds will remain solid with that type of dual-threat play.

Saquon Barkley, Eagles (+1400)

Philadelphia's prized free agent acquisition is proving the Eagles made a great move, though his pursuit of the NFL single-season rushing record was slowed. He ran for 65 yards in a big win over Pittsburgh. Still, Barkley is putting himself in a position to be the first non-QB to win the NFL MVP award since RB Adrian Peterson won in 2012. His season total is now at 1,688 yards, tops in the league, and he has 11 rushing touchdowns. He also has 31 catches for 276 yards and two more TDs. He's behind the pace needed to break Eric Dickerson's NFL single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards, but his importance to the Eagles is unmistakable.

Jared Goff, Lions (+2500)

Goff and 12-2 Detroit are considered the favorites in the NFC North following a breakthrough 2023 season in which the Lions came up one game shy of their first Super Bowl appearance. Sam Darnold, Vikings (+10000)

Darnold is one of the feel-good stories of the season and has the Vikings at 12-2, tied with the Eagles and Lions for the best record in the NFC and just a game behind 13-1 Kansas City. A former top pick of the Jets, Darnold is on his fourth team in seven seasons. Many feel he had not been given a fair opportunity to succeed in New York or his second stop, Carolina. He was a backup in San Fran last season and appears to finally be in an NFL setting that is fostering his development. He's completed 67.6% of his passes this season for 3,530 yards and 29 TD passes.

Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs (+15000)

Mahomes is among the favorites to win the MVP and with good reason. His stats for 2024 aren't blowing anyone out of the water, but he keeps finding ways for the Chiefs to win in their 13-1 start. Mahomes, though, was hurt in the win over Cleveland. His status is not fully known but has not been ruled out for this week's game, a Saturday matchup at home versus Houston. He has thrown for 3,348 yards and 22 touchdowns. As long as the reigning Super Bowl champs stay in the title hunt and he stays healthy, Mahomes will remain a favorite in NFL MVP odds. Mahomes checks all the boxes for a viable MVP candidate as the quarterback of a Super Bowl-contending team who can post elite production.

Jalen Hurts, Eagles (+15000)

In his fifth season, Philadelphia's leader has kept the Eagles in the thick of playoff contention and now tied with Minnesota and Detroit for the best record in the NFC at 12-2. They are on a franchise-record 10-game winning streak. Hurts is a big reason why. He and running back Saquon Barkley, a leading MVP candidate, are a great tandem. Hurts broke out of a slight slump in a vital win over the Steelers. He threw for 290 yards after not going over 200 in the three previous games. He did not throw an interception. For the season, Hurts is completing 69.2% of his passes for 2,892 yards and 18 TDs. He has added 589 yards on the ground and another 14 touchdowns.

Joe Burrow, Bengals (+15000)

Burrow is a longshot contender in NFL MVP odds more because of his individual efforts and not the Bengals' team success. Cincinnati is a disappointing 6-8, not out of the playoff chase but not really in a good position for the postseason. Burrow, though, is burning up the stats sheet. He leads the NFL in passing yards with 3,977 and touchdown throws with 36. He is completing 68.5% of his passes, 361 completions in 527 attempts - both also league highs.

Baker Mayfield, Buccaneers (+15000)

Mayfield does not get a lot of respect for his abilities outside of league circles, but he has propelled Tampa Bay into first place in the NFC South, and opponents and teammates know his value to the team. The Bucs are 8-6 with a one-game lead over Atlanta and have been spurred by Mayfield's performance. He is fourth in the NFL with 3,617 yards and has completed 70.8% of his passes. He is 328-463 with 32 TDs.
