Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Tremont Waters was born in New Haven, Connecticut. His parents are Vanessa and Ed Waters and he has six brothers. In high school, Waters first played three seasons for South Kent School in Connecticut. He transferred to Notre Dame High School in West Haven for his senior season. Coming out of Notre Dame HS, Waters was a four-star prospect who was ranked No. 32 in the 2017 ESPN college prospect rankings. While at LSU, he majored in business and finance. To relax, Waters likes listening to music and getting massages. Waters' favorite food is his mom's rice and kielbasa. You can follow Waters on Instagram @tremontwaters. For two seasons, Tremont Waters was the lead point guard for LSU. During the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, Waters started 61 of 66 games for the Tigers. In his freshman year, his 198 assists were an LSU freshman record, breaking the mark set by NBA star Ben Simmons. Waters' combination of play-making proficiency (6.0 assists per game) and scoring (15.9 points per contest) led to Freshman All-SEC accolades. Waters would produce, statistically, a sophomore season very similar to his freshman campaign with 15.3 points, 5.8 assists and an eye-popping 2.9 steals per game. The big difference was that Waters led LSU to a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers, entering the tourney as a No. 3 seed, defeated Yale and then Maryland to make to the Sweet 16. They would then lose to Michigan State. Waters would later be named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-SEC.

ANALYSIS
Waters proved to be Puerto Rico's No. 2 option behind Jose Alvarado in the squad's loss Sunday. The 26-year-old Waters played for the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association in 2023-24, and he averaged 20.8 points, 5.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 steals across 21.8 minutes in 51 regular-season games. Waters has also spent time in the NBA and the G League, with his longest NBA stint including 26 games with Boston in 2020-21, during which he averaged 3.8 points and 2.4 assists across 9.2 minutes per game.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2020
2019
Waters earned G League Rookie of the Year honors in 2019-20, and 2020-21 looks like another season of G League play for the guard from LSU. Boston added 32-year-old veteran Jeff Teague and rookie Payton Pritchard to their point-guard depth chart this offseason, and they still have Purdue product Carsen Edwards under contract. Teague will likely take the minutes of departed reserve Brad Wanamaker, which leaves Pritchard and Edwards fighting for time as the third string floor leader. Where Waters will earn playing time is yet to be determined, which probably means the 5-foot-11 guard will take on a starting role with the Maine Red Claws for the time being.
The 51st overall pick and fourth pick of the Boston Celtics in the 2019 NBA Draft will spend most of his winter in Maine with the Red Claws. He signed a two-way contract with Boston in July, and is looking up at Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart, Carsen Edwards and Brad Wanamaker on the point guard depth chart. The LSU rookie will need to play well in Maine and witness an injury or two in the Celtic backcourt in order to spend meaningful time with the big league club.

Booms for Puerto Rico
GFree Agent
September 3, 2023
Waters averaged 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 2.6 steals in 35.1 minutes per game across five starts for Puerto Rico at the FIBA World Cup.
ANALYSIS
Waters' box score performance is blemished by 5.2 turnovers per game and a 41.8 field-goal percentage overall, but the 25-year-old was a critical gravitational force for Puerto Rico. Connecting on 37.5 percent of 9.6 threes per game and leading Puerto Rico in free-throw attempts, Waters' shot-making and self-creation fueled the offense. Last season, he averaged 16.3 points and 6.0 assists while operating as Victor Wembanyama's point guard for Boulogne-Levallois.
