2024 Fantasy Outlook
After declining his team option, the Clippers re-signed Jones to a non-guaranteed deal this offseason. The talented big man missed Summer League action due to an ankle injury but should be healthy for training camp, where he'll have to impress to earn a regular-season roster spot. Ivica Zubac is the incumbent starting center and will have a major role, but he won't play over 30 minutes a night. The Clippers signed Mo Bamba to compete with Jones for the top backup spot, and it's also possible Nicolas Batum plays some small-ball center at times. Nothing with Jones is guaranteed, not even his contract, but there is a path to playing time if he stays healthy, avoids off-court issues and has a few things break his way. Across 67 career regular-season appearances, Jones has averaged 11.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 0.9 steals per 36 minutes, but he's never played extended minutes consistently. Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Jones perhaps didn't leap off the stats pages in his two seasons with the Longhorns, but it was always evident the raw skills were there. He appeared in 27 games (10 starts) for Texas in his freshman season, posting 3.6 points and 3.2 rebounds across 16.7 minutes. His biggest contributions were on the defensive end, as he provided Shaka Smart & co. with 1.1 rejections per contest. Jones continued in a reserve role during a pandemic-shortened sophomore season, improving his statistics across the board. The 6-11 center increased his offensive output to 8.8 ppg, while also seeing an eight-percent spike in his shooting percentage (.580). He also became more efficient, checking in with a top-15 PER in the Big 12. When it was all said and done, Jones was named the conference's Sixth Man of the Year. He was also part of the Big 12 Tournament-winning squad, defeating Cade Cunningham and the Cowboys in the final.

November 5, 2024
Jones finished Monday's 113-104 win over the Spurs with one block over four minutes.
ANALYSIS
Jones was a non-factor in Monday's win, though he did pick up a block for the fourth consecutive game. The 23-year-old has played a small role off the bench while seeing double-digit minutes in four-regular season games. Jones has averaged 2.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.9 blocks while shooting 63.6 percent from the field across 8.9 minutes per game in seven regular-season appearances.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
After barely seeing the floor during his rookie season, Jones was unable to take any significant strides during the 2022-23 campaign. Playing behind both Mark Williams and Nick Richards, as well as Mason Plumlee for a sizeable chunk of the season, Jones simply couldn't get onto the court. He ended by playing in 46 games, averaging 11.9 minutes per outing. In that time, he put up 3.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 combined steals and blocks. His upside is on the defensive end, meaning he wouldn't necessarily need to play huge minutes to sniff fantasy value. Unfortunately, Williams is the center of the future in Charlotte, while Richards is a more than proven number two. At this point, Jones will find it difficult to put up value, even in deeper formats.
Jones barely touched the floor during his rookie season, averaging just three minutes per game. While there is scope for his role to increase in 2022-23, it is unlikely he plays enough to be a viable fantasy consideration. During the recent Summer League, he managed to block 2.0 shots per game in just 20 minutes, so if for some reason he is given a longer leash than expected, there could be some limited streaming appeal.

Future with team uncertain
CCharlotte Hornets
September 27, 2023
Jones hasn't participated in any optional player sessions ahead of training camp, and it's not clear if he'll be on the floor for the start of camp with the Hornets, Roderick Boone of the Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2021 first-round pick has struggled to carve out a consistent role during his first two NBA seasons, and some odd social media posts over the last few weeks raised concerns about his mental health. Hornets coach Steve Clifford wouldn't clarify Jones' status with the team during a media luncheon Tuesday but did indicate the team was aware of the posts. "It's a situation that's been handled internally," Clifford said. Charlotte has until the end of October to decide whether to pick up its option on Jones for the 2024-25 season.
