Selected with the 40th overall pick in the 2019 Draft, James joins the up-and-coming Kings. A 6-foot-7, 183-pound senior out of Wyoming, James was selected to the Mountain West All-Conference First Team (Media) last season. He saw 38.2 minutes per game and averaged 22.1 points on 17.4 shots, 8.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals. While his three-pointer is a work in progress (33.5 percent for his collegiate career), James was adept at getting to the free-throw line, taking 8.4 freebies per game and making them at a 74.1 percent clip. In six summer league games, he racked up 9.2 points on 6.5 shots, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists across 22 minutes per contest. It appears James may end up buried on Sacramento's depth chart, and he'll have to beat out Bogdan Bogdanovic and Trevor Ariza for any hope of seeing consistent run as a backup. Considering that's unlikely, it's possible James ends up in the G League for much of the 2019-20 campaign.
