Darrun Hilliard

Like most second-round draft picks, Hilliard struggled to see the court as a rookie, appearing in 38 games for the Pistons and averaging 4.0 points and 1.2 rebounds in 10.1 minutes per contest. Even with Jodie Meeks missing much of the season with a fractured foot, coach Scott Van Gundy chose to ride starting wings Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Marcus Morris heavily, leaving few minutes available for deep bench options like Hilliard. While it was hard to glean much from his limited court time last season, Hilliard didn't look out of place when he was out there and hit 19-of-50 three-point attempts (38%), successfully replicating the skills from long distance that he exhibited during his college career at Villanova. Van Gundy has said that he intends to reduce the workloads of Caldwell-Pope and Morris during the coming season, but with Stanley Johnson and perhaps Reggie Bullock first in line for minutes at the wing off the bench, Hilliard may still have difficulty penetrating the rotation. Don't expect much more than a mild boost in his production from his 2015-16 campaign.
