Elleby made some positive strides in his second NBA season, and he finished with per-game averages of 5.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists over 58 games. Though far from a consistent shooter, his field-goal and three-point percentages both improved over his rookie campaign, but a jump in playing time from 6.4 to over 20 minutes per contest was largely responsible for his gains. However, Elleby isn't likely to see another opportunity like the one he got in Portland last season when injuries and trades resulted in a starting role for 28 of the Blazers' final 30 games. The 22-year-old signed an Exhibit 10 contract with Minnesota in the offseason, so he'll be competing for a roster spot during training camp. Even if he does make the team, Elleby isn't likely to be more than an end-of-bench piece for a Timberwolves squad with aspirations for a deep playoff run.
