Thomas is coming off a career-best year during which he finished as the 130th-ranked player in nine-category leagues. In 31.4 minutes per night, he averaged a healthy 22.5 points per game, adding 3.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 0.7 steals and 2.2 three-pointers. Heading into the 2024-25 season, the Nets are likely to struggle when it comes to victories. After parting ways with Mikal Bridges during the offseason, Thomas is left as the clear No. 1 option on offense. Should the coaching staff opt to fully unleash him, there is no knowing just how many shots Thomas will fire up on a nightly basis. If he can push to 20 shot attempts, it is not unreasonable to think he could average upwards of 25.0 points per contest. The lack of peripheral numbers continues to be a stumbling block when evaluating his overall upside. However, he was able to increase his assist production last season. If he manages to do that again, Thomas would be more appealing. While there is cause for hesitation, Thomas makes sense as a viable flier target in the seventh or eighth round. Read Past Outlooks

Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. Prior to his junior season, he transferred to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. At Oak Hill, he was teammates with Cole Anthony and Kofi Cockburn. As a senior at Oak Hill, Thomas scored 31.5 points per game and was selected to play in the Jordan Brand Classic. In November of 2019, Thomas committed to playing ball at Louisiana State University. The combo guard played one season at LSU and as a freshman was named to the First Team All-SEC squad. Hamstring
January 4, 2025
The Nets announced Saturday that Thomas sustained a left hamstring strain in Thursday's 113-110 win over the Bucks and will be re-evaluated following the team's West Coast road trip, which concludes Jan. 19 in Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS Thomas had recently missed just over a month with the same injury and appeared in just two games before straining the hamstring again. It's an unfortunate development for the young guard, who's expected multi-week absence should enable Keon Johnson and Tyrese Martin to take on heightened playing time on the wing.

2021
On the whole, it was another underwhelming season for Thomas, ending as the 351st-ranked player in nine-category leagues. In 16.6 minutes per night, he averaged 10.6 points, adding very little else. Herein lies the problem with Thomas. He has proven himself to be a competent scorer, delivering multiple 40-point games last season. The issue is that he offers basically nothing else when he is on the floor. This was highlighted by the fact that he was not even a part of the regular rotation to close last season, despite the team having parted ways with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. Thomas should be in the discussion for playing time again this season but will be battling the likes of Ben Simmons, Spencer Dinwiddie, Mikal Bridges and Dennis Smith for playing time. He is not worth drafting outside of deeper formats but is someone to monitor closely should he be able to diversify his game to the point where he forces the coaching staff to give him minutes.
It's all about opportunity for Thomas, who, despite a few flashes during his rookie season, finished well outside the top 300 per game in eight-category roto leagues. When handed a significant role, Thomas flaunted his offensive ability, scoring at least 20 points in six of eight games during a stretch in February. He ended his first season in the league with averages of 8.5 points and 2.4 rebounds. Based on what we have seen, Thomas would need Kevin Durant and/or Kyrie Irving to be traded to have a shot at consistent fantasy value. While this could certainly happen at some point in the near future, as of right now, he is not on the radar for anyone preparing for an early fantasy draft.
Thomas was selected by the Nets with the 27th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Thomas was a high-volume scorer for LSU as a freshman, averaging 23.0 points per game in addition to 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists. He's expected to be a pure scorer at the NBA level, as he doesn't excel anywhere else. Notably, he was named co-MVP of the 2021 Summer League. He averaged 27.0 points on 42/36/85 shooting splits. While he recorded nearly twice as many turnovers (3.8) as assists (2.0), he made up for it with his scoring. With the Nets this season, Thomas figures to compete with Patty Mills and Jevon Carter for reserve minutes in the backcourt.

Kings looking at him?
GBrooklyn Nets
December 30, 2024
The Kings had been exploring the possibility of trading for Thomas in recent weeks before the firing of head coach Mike Brown, according to Ramona Shelbourne of ESPN.
ANALYSIS The Kings have been looking to make a deal to shake things up, and Thomas is one of many names the team has been considering to bolster the rotation. However, the firing of Mike Brown suggests the organization won't be making any moves in the coming weeks. Thomas is expected to be one of the most attractive trade assets on the Nets roster following the departures of Dennis Schroder and Dorian Finney-Smith to the Warriors and Lakers, respectively.
