Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

McKinnie was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Elisa Bryant and Alfonzo McKinnie, Sr in 1992. He attended and played basketball at Chicago's Curie Metropolitan High School for his first two years of high school. McKinnie then played his final season at Marshall Metropolitan High School, averaging 11.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game to garner All-Red West Conference honors. In 2016, he won a silver medal with USA Basketball at the FIBA 3x3 World Championship in Guangzhou, China. Learn more about McKinnie by following him on Twitter (@_Alvo_) and Instagram (@_alvo_). McKinnie toiled for four seasons in small conferences in the Midwest as a defensive specialist. The 6-foot-7 forward initially played for Eastern Illinois. He started five games as a freshman and averaged 3.6 points and 3.6 rebounds. The forward joined the Panthers' starting lineup as a sophomore and provided 10.2 points and 7.0 rebounds. He decided to transfer after his sophomore season and took his talents to UW-Green Bay. While sitting out the 2012-13 season, McKinnie tore his MCL. He appeared in only nine games off the bench in 2013-14 and tore his MCL again, eventually having it removed. The Chicago native started 20 games as a redshirt senior and put up 8.0 points and 5.3 rebounds for a team that went 12-4 in the Horizon League.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
McKinnie finished with 4.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game during his first season with Golden State in 2018-19. He shot 48.7 percent from the floor and 35.6 percent from deep. McKinnie had a very small role off the bench, but his playing time is set to increase tremendously this year. Once buried on the depth chart behind loaded talent at both forward positions, McKinnie is likely to operate as the Warriors' starting small forward now that Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala are no longer on the roster. McKinnie averaged a healthy 12.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per 36 minutes last season, meaning he could be in for a major leap in production if he lands a spot in the starting five. The loss of Durant and the lengthy absence of Klay Thompson will leave a big hole to fill on offense, and McKinnie makes for a deep-league flier as a result.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
In line for increased role?
FChicago Bulls
January 13, 2022
McKinnie could be in line for an increased role after Derrick Jones suffered a significant knee injury during Wednesday's loss to the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Barring a few stints in the NBA's health and safety protocols, the Bulls' core four -- Lonzo Ball, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic -- has been intact for the majority of the season. However, the fifth spot in the starting lineup has been a revolving door all year after Patrick Williams was lost to a wrist injury at the end of October. Javonte Green stepped up in Williams' absence, but he recently suffered a groin injury that will keep him sidelined for a couple weeks, which opened the door for Jones, who -- as mentioned -- suffered a significant injury of his own just 30 seconds into Wednesday's game. McKinnie, who was signed for the rest of the season after impressing during a 10-day contract, entered the game and played 20 minutes during the loss and will likely be a candidate to draw starts for the Bulls moving forward, at least until Alex Caruso returns from COVID-19 protocols.
