Ezeli signed with the Westchester Knicks of the G League on Monday, Marc Stein of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Ezeli was a member of the Warriors' championship team in 2015, but injuries quickly forced him out of the league following the 2015-16 campaign. The 31-year-old is looking to make an NBA comeback, and he'll begin his journey in the Orlando G League bubble. In his final season with the Warriors, Ezeli averaged 7.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 16.7 minutes.

Ezeli returned to active duty in 2014-15 after sitting out the entire 2013-14 season while recovering from surgery on his ACL and MCL in his right knee. A combination of a relatively healthy Andrew Bogut and an increasing reliance on small-ball lineups left Ezeli with little playing time. He averaged just 11 minutes per game in 46 games. At this stage of his career, Ezeli is all defense. He averaged 3.0 blocks and 11.1 rebounds per 36 minutes. Offensively, his hands have gotten better, though he's still very much limited to dunks and put-backs. He's entering the final year of his rookie deal, and the Warriors want to retain him at a reasonable price. Bogut's still around for another two years, but the organization is interested in having an inexpensive and familiar in-house option as a replacement.
Ezeli missed the entire 2013-14 season after undergoing surgery to repair the medial collateral and posterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee back in June 2013. The Warriors' initial timetable had him returning last season, but he kept getting pushed back and never made it to the court. He was medically cleared to play this summer but suffered inflammation in his right shin and didn't see action at the Las Vegas Summer League. The injury was not considered serious, and we expect Ezeli in camp to compete for a depth role at center. He's an outstanding shot blocker, but work remains to refine his overall game. After missing a year of development time due to the knee injury, it would not be surprising to see Ezeli get a lot of D-League minutes this season.
Ezeli had offseason knee surgery and is not expected to be ready to play until December, at the earliest. He received a fair amount of playing time as a rookie in 2012-13 because of the recuperation time Andrew Bogut needed after undergoing ankle surgery. With Bogut healthy heading into training camp and veteran Jermaine O'Neal on board for the season, Ezeli's role will be diminished once he returns. He's a feared shot-blocker, but could use some development time in the D-League.
Ezeli is athletic and mobile, but is a work-in-progress at both ends of the floor. He’s an aggressive shot blocker, though probably too aggressive as it takes him out of rebounding position when, more than anything, the Warriors could use rebounding help in the frontcourt. Where he fits in the big-man rotation is up in the air as the team enters training camp. He could usurp minutes from the disappointing Andris Biedrins, but the addition of Carl Landry could block Ezeli’s path to meaningful playing time.

Could make G League comeback
CFree Agent
February 20, 2021
Ezeli is eligible to sign with any G League franchise and could make a comeback to the NBA sooner than later, speculates Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Ezeli has logged 170 NBA appearances throughout his career but hasn't played since the 2016 NBA Finals due to recurrent knee injuries. He is in quarantine in the G League bubble in Orlando and can be picked up by any team, though -- that would be the first step towards eventually making a comeback to The Association.
