ANALYSIS
Sacre had been limited for a decent portion of training camp by a foot injury, but he likely would have had difficulty making the Pelicans' 15-man roster even if health hadn't been an issue. The 27-year-old has 189 games of NBA experience under his belt over parts of four seasons in the NBA, but the market doesn't figure to be robust for a seven-footer who is a career 43.6 percent shooter from the field.

Now heading into his fourth season, Sacre garnered a career-high in minutes with 17 per game under coach Byron Scott, in his 67 games, which was also a career mark. Unfortunately, career-highs in playing time, didn't necessarily translate into on court production, as Sacre limped to final averages of 4.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.6 blocks while shooting just 41 percent from the field and 67 percent from the line. Sacre started taking his shots from further last season, but it didn't work as he hit under 40 percent on all shots outside of three feet from the rim. With Roy Hibbert in town and Tarik Black given the nod over him last season, Sacre is fighting for his NBA career this season, and things are looking tough at this point. As the third-string center in Los Angeles, Sacre's fantasy value is going to lie in only the deepest of leagues, and even if he could get big minutes, his per-36 minute numbers from last season aren't encouraging. He averaged just 9.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per 36 minutes, and that doesn't inspire a whole heap of confidence.
Sacre, a third-year veteran from Canada, took a significant step forward last season, playing in 65 games as the Lakers' frontcourt was decimated by injury. It was a significant step up from the 32 games he played in his rookie season, and along with increasing the volume of appearances, Sacre also increased his productivity. In just 17 minutes per game as the third-string center, Sacre averaged 5.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.7 blocks – all career-highs. Considering he's a seven-foot center, Sacre had a slightly disappointing field goal percentage last season , only shooting 48 percent on 4.6 attempts. This can be partially attributed to the fact that Sacre only took 28.3 percent of his field goal attempts within three feet of the basket, much less than the 38 percent that he attempted from between 3-10 feet. If Sacre was able to position himself a little closer to the cup, a rise in field goal percentage would be expected, as he converted 68 percent of those shots within three feet of the basket last season. He also shot 68 percent from the free-throw line on 1.4 attempts. Even though the Lakers lost Pau Gasol and Chris Kaman this offseason, minutes won't necessarily be opening up for Sacre, as general manager Mitch Kupchak brought in Carlos Boozer and Ed Davis to compete for frontcourt minutes and drafted Julius Randle with the seventh pick of the 2014 NBA Draft this June.
Sacre-bleu! Sacre comes into the league after a rookie season in which he appeared in 32 games and started three. Sacre wasn't called to action until injuries started to plague Los Angeles. Sacre did not post significant stats, averaging 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds per game. It is unrealistic to expect Sacre to have relevant fantasy production, but as a second year player and being a seven-footer, he has nowhere to go but up. With the looming health issues constantly following the Lakers, Sacre could be pressed into more playing time this season. If he fully picks up D'Antoni's system, he could be a very big sleeper in deep leagues.
