ANALYSIS
Singler has spent the last six years in the NBA, with his most recent three coming as a member of the Thunder. During the 2017-18 campaign, specifically, Singler saw action in just 12 games, so he became expendable this offseason and was waived by Oklahoma City through the stretch provision. He'll now head to Spain to play for Obradoiro, where Singler will likely look to re-establish his value with the hopes of latching on with another NBA squad in the future.

Singler saw the smallest role of his career last season, playing 59 total minutes for the Thunder after previously garnering at least 385 minutes in each of his previous five campaigns. The departure of Carmelo Anthony without a replacement on the wing theoretically opens up time for Singler to see run. However, extra workload will presumably go to players who were already seeing significant minutes. Since his first full season in OKC (2015-16), the Duke product is shooting 39.1 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Entering his third full season with the Thunder, Singler only was deployed in 32 games last season compared to 68 in the 2015-16 season. The downward trend might actually continue since there are arguably six better options ahead of him on the depth chart heading into training camp. Lucky for him, though, the 29-year-old still has three more guaranteed years on his current contract and seems to be safe from being cut entirely.
After playing his first two-and-a-half seasons for the Pistons, Singler was traded to the Thunder at the trade deadline last season. In his 26 games with the Thunder, he averaged 3.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.3 blocks in 18 minutes per game. Singler started 18 of those 26 games, so those numbers are pretty darning for his fantasy value, especially considering that the team will have a healthy Kevin Durant back in the lineup this season. New coach Billy Donovan could decide to start Singler at shooting guard, and at 6-8, he'd certainly give the team impressive size on the wing. Singler is essentially a 3-and-D player and little else. Even if he is in the starting lineup, he doesn't play agressive and defers on offense, which is nice to have in reality, but for fantasy, it behooves a player to be selfish and put up stats. Dion Waiters, Andre Roberson, and Anthony Morrow will all be battling Singler for minutes on the wing, and it could leave all of them sitting on the waiver wire after drafts this season, as they'll likely cannibalize each other's value from game to game.
While there were mild strides made during his sophomore campaign, Singler's second NBA season was nearly identical to his first. The 26-year-old wing played in all 82 games for the Pistons, appearing as a member of the starting unit in 36 of those contests. He finished the season with averages of 9.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.1 three-pointers in 29 minutes per game. Already a steady shooter, Singler saw his efficiency go up across the board in 2013-14, as he hit 45 percent of his field-goal attempts, 38 percent of his three-pointers, and 83 percent of his freebies. Singler saw most his minutes at shooting guard last season, but given his height (6-8) and skillset, he's a more natural fit at small forward. Plus, the Pistons figure to hand the majority of minutes at the two to Jodie Meeks and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, further indicating Singler's future is at forward. Singler's ability to stretch the court is a good fit for new Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy's offense, but the third-year forward's role is still up in the air until Van Gundy reveals his plan for how Josh Smith will be deployed this season.
After spending one year overseas, Singler joined the Pistons for his rookie campaign in 2012-13. The Duke University product lived up to his scouting reporting, providing the Pistons with decent perimeter shooting (42.8 percent from the floor, 35.0 percent from the arc) while displaying a high basketball IQ. He earned more playing time than expected in his first season, averaging 28 mpg while starting 74 of his 82 appearances. Singler finished his rookie season with averages of 8.8 points and 4.0 rebounds. Despite the sizable role in his rookie campaign, Singler is expected to slot into a depth position during his sophomore season.
The Pistons selected Singler in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft. The Duke product opted to play overseas last season after the lockout threatened the NBA season. Singler (6-8, 225) is an athletic wing who will provide the Pistons with a three-point threat off the bench.
The Pistons selected Singler with the 33rd overall pick of the 2011 draft. The 23-year-old small forward out of Duke signed to play overseas during the lockout and has since decided to spend the remainder of the season playing for Real Madrid of the Spanish ACB League. He’s expected to join the Pistons for the 2012-13 season.
