The NBA has six games going tonight with interesting storylines abound, as always.
In Cleveland, Dwyane Wade will now be coming off the bench just in time for his most recent former team to come to town. The Nets and Magic hooked up last week and produced some big numbers, so the rematch has some potential value play. The Celtics have become a hotbed of young talent, and face a Knicks team that has Kristaps Porzingis and not much else. The Pacers are dealing with injury, while the Timberwolves seem to be starting to come together and hit their strides. The Pelicans and the Trail Blazers could be an explosive match-up between dominant perimeter scores vs dominant do-everything bigs. Finally, the Clippers have looked solid post-Chris-Paul with their bigs carrying the load, but they have to prove it on Tuesday against Rudy Gobert and a tough Jazz interior defense. Let's look through these games, and see what value we can find.
GUARDS
Damian Lillard, POR vs NO ($9,900): Lillard is averaging 23.7 points, 5.7 boards, 5.3 assists and 3.3 combined steals and blocks on the season, and has the highest fantasy average among guards going Tuesday. Plus, he's a competitive and explosive scorer and this game against the Pelicans' twin towers could be just enough to get him fired up against an opponent with spotty perimeter defense.
Andrew Wiggins, MIN vs IND ($6,900): Wiggins was scoring without much else in the first two games, but in the last game against the Thunder he went all-around with 27 points, seven rebounds, four dimes and two steals. He also hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer, and seems to be playing with confidence.
Lou Williams, LAC vs UTA ($5,500): Williams wins this slot, but there are a lot of worthy candidates (Terry Rozier - $5500, D.J. Augustin - $5900, Ramon Sessions - $4100). Each of these guys are capable of putting up 30 fantasy points on Tuesday. Williams earns the slot because he's been very consistent for the Clippers early, and my recollection is that he torched the Jazz multiple times last season.
FORWARDS
Anthony Davis, NO at POR ($12,200): Davis is always a bit nerve-wracking to buy into fully, because it seems that historically, every time I do, he ends up getting injured mid-game and being unable to finish. This happens relatively often. That said, Davis is playing like an X-Man these days, with only Giannis Antetokounmpo as a peer, and as long as he's keeping that up he's worth even this lofty price tag.
DeMarre Carroll, BKN at ORL ($5,800): Carroll seems to be back to his level of a couple of years ago, when he was a nightly 30-fantasy-point scoring threat with his combination of solid scoring, all around effort and defense. Finally healthy, he is averaging 14.7 points with 6.7 boards, two assists and 2.4 combined blocks/steals per game.
Domantas Sabonis, IND at MIN ($4,800): Sabonis has been starting in place of the injured Myles Turner, who has been declared out for Tuesday. In his last start, Sabonis scored 18 points with 12 boards, two assists and two combined blocks/steals in 30 minutes of action.
CENTERS
Nikola Vucevic, ORL vs BKN ($9,800): Vucevic has been a monster this season, with two double-doubles and solid peripheral numbers in three games. He faced this same Nets squad last week, and exploded for 41 points, 12 boards and three assists on the night.
Al Horford, BOS vs NY ($7,300): Horford is a consistent, veteran producer. He is averaging 13 points, 7.3 boards, 4.0 assists and 2.3 combined blocks steals thus far, numbers very reminiscent of what he always produces. He is thus a safe bet to perform against a Knicks frontline that, while packed with size, is relatively soft defensively.
Robin Lopez, CHI at CLE ($6,000): The Bulls just aren't very talented this season, leaving Lopez as both a senior member, but also one of the most talented players. He is averaging 17 points and is a nightly double-double threat, and with his size and energy he should be able to get what he wants against undersized center Kevin Love on Tuesday.
