Yadiel Hernandez

For the second straight season, the Nationals played Hernandez out of necessity, and for the second straight year, he performed at a league average level. The problem is he's 35-years-old and the club really needs to find someone younger to develop. Perhaps that's why Hernandez was optioned to Triple-A Rochester after the season. There still isn't much in Washington's outfield, so Hernandez's may be required again. He strikes out around the league average, but rarely draws a walk. Hernandez has plus power, but it's capped by a groundball rate north of 50%. If he's forced into regular playing time, Hernandez can masquerade as a back-end mixed league outfielder, but like the Nationals, you play him out of necessity, not because you want to.
