Xavier Isaac

20-Year-Old First Baseman1B
Tampa Bay Rays AA
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Isaac is a rare premium first base prospect. Most of the best fantasy first basemen were underrated as prospects (Paul Goldschmidt, Pete Alonso) or came up at other positions (Bryce Harper, Vladimir Guerrero), but the Rays selected Isaac out of high school with the No. 29 overall pick in 2022 knowing full well he'd be splitting time between first base and designated hitter. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound lefty slugger has huge raw power, but he didn't sell out for it in his first full pro season, logging a 21 percent strikeout rate at Single-A and at High-A. His walk rate was eerily consistent as well, (15% at Single-A, 14% at High-A). Anyone who doubted Isaac's game power got a swift lesson at the end of the year after he hit six home runs in 12 High-A games en route to a .490 ISO in that brief run as a 19-year-old. Isaac could be big-league ready in a year or two, and the main question is whether he will be platooned at the highest level. He had a .976 OPS and 20.1 K% in 339 plate appearances against righties and a .697 OPS and 25.5 K% in 94 plate appearances against southpaws. Read Past Outlooks

The Rays promoted Isaac from High-A Bowling Green to Double-A Montgomery on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Isaac won't turn 21 years old until December but has already reached the Double-A level after slashing .288/.380/.537 with 15 home runs and 14 stolen bases over 70 games with Bowling Green. He is arguably the top first base prospect in all of baseball.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Isaac wasn't high on many public draft boards, as he is a first base-only prep hitter who missed the 2021 showcase circuit due to a fractured foot. However, he has massive fantasy potential. The Rays shocked draft pundits by selecting Isaac with the 29th overall pick and giving him full slot money. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound lefty masher has as much raw power as any hitter in the class, which is saying something, and the Rays were probably more bullish on his hit tool than any other club. Isaac is a hard worker who is intent on proving the doubters wrong. He will head to Single-A for his first full season. The pressure will always be on him to hit, given his size and limited defensive value. But Isaac has the upside to be one of the best run producers in the game.
