Past Fantasy Outlooks
2019
2018
Lutz spent all of last season at the Low-A level, and while his numbers indicate a big drop-off from his debut season, there are still reasons to be encouraged about his future. The No. 34 overall pick in 2017 hit .270 and posted an .827 OPS over his final 55 games. It should also be noted he was just 19 years old for the bulk of the year, which made him far younger than most of his counterparts. He is a big (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) young power hitter, so strikeouts will always be part of the equation. Lutz uses the whole field and has no trouble launching the ball (39.9 FB%), but he needs to recapture the line-drive rates he posted in rookie ball in order to hit for a relatively high average -- his LD% dipped to 15.6% last year. He heads into 2019 as one of the top hitting prospects in the Brewers' system, and still has middle-of-the-order potential.
