That scenario describes the Reds' usage of Tim Adleman in 2016. The 28-year old rookie made 13 starts, turning in a 4.00 ERA (despite having a 5.35 FIP) and a 16.4 percent strikeout rate. Adleman has an average fastball and elevates the ball too often to have long-term success in Great American Ball Park. Moreover, the Reds have four spots locked in their rotation and he's a long shot to fill the fifth. Last year was as good as it gets for him.
