Rest-of-Season Projections
The A's traded Streich to the Padres on Thursday, along with Derek Norris and an international signing slot, for Jesse Hahn and R.J. Alvarez, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Streich's biggest improvement last season was with his control, as he trimmed his walk rate from 2013 nearly in half (from 3.3 BB/9 to 1.7 BB/9), resulting in a 3.16 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 114 innings with High-A Stockton. The Padres can afford to take their time with Streich in the upper levels of the minors, but the 23-year-old right-hander could push for a full-time rotation spot as early as 2016.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2015
2014
Streich, a sixth-round draft pick in 2012, started 22 games for High-A Stockton and threw 114 innings in his second full season, earning post-season All-Star recognition in the California League in the process. His season ended prematurely, however, as he hit the disabled list in August with a shoulder injury that eventually required surgery. The ending put a damper on the breakout campaign, as Streich compiled a 3.16 ERA with a 9.2 K/9 rate, while displaying good control. The strikeouts were a great sign as his K/9 in 2013, his first year as a full-time starter, was only 6.7. Another great sign is that his walk rate dropped from 3.3 BB/9 in 2013 to 1.7 BB/9 last season. A good portion of his 2015 season will likely be lost to rehabbing his shoulder, but if he's healthy enough to pitch in games again, Streich will likely be promoted to Double-A Midland.
