2024 Fantasy Outlook
In 58 games from June 11 through the end of the season, Hinds slashed .324/.398/.671 with 18 home runs, 11 steals and a 25.1 percent strikeout rate as a 22-year-old at Double-A. The pre-tacked balls were removed from the Southern League mid-season, so that aided his improved play after he notched a 41.9 percent strikeout rate in the first 50 games. A former third baseman, Hinds has a huge arm in right field and moves well for his size (6-foot-4, 215 pounds). The Reds added him to the 40-man roster as Rule 5 draft protection, and it's easy to fixate on his 70-grade raw power in Great American Ball Park. First, he'll need to prove that this newfound ability to make contact at an acceptable clip is sustainable as he moves up to Triple-A. The risk is obvious, but Hinds' 40-homer upside and proximity to the majors are appealing in all dynasty formats. Read Past Outlooks

Enters game due to injury
OFCincinnati Reds
September 13, 2024
Hinds entered Thursday's game after Will Benson (finger) was removed from a 6-1 loss to St. Louis.
ANALYSIS
Benson was pulled after injuring his left middle finger during a bunt attempt in the sixth inning. Amed Rosario finished the at-bat, and Hinds entered to the play the field in the seventh. Hinds has just eight plate appearances (zero starts) since being called up in late August. Benson's X-rays came back negative, and there may not be an immediate need for Hinds to fill in.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
Hinds, the No. 49 overall pick in 2019, has played just three official games in pro ball, but he impressed evaluators during the fall instructional league, so his dynasty stock is trending up. A quad injury limited the 6-foot-4 third baseman after he was drafted out of high school, but he was invited to the Reds' alternate training site before having a mini coming out party at instructs. Hinds has massive raw power and should be highly regarded by anyone who values max exit velocity (117 mph at instructs), but his surprisingly adequate hit tool is what really upped his stock. Strikeouts will always be a part of his game, but if he can keep his strikeout rate in the 25-30 percent range, he would have 40-homer upside in the majors. Hinds is big, yet athletic, and his cannon of an arm would profile just fine in right field if he has to move off of third base. He should head to Low-A for his age-20 season.
